Meet the Ambassadors

(2023-24)

Aparna Verma.png

Aparna Verma

Hi all, I am Aparna! I am in my final year of pursuing B.A.(Hons.) Psychology from Ambedkar University, Delhi. I have been a part of the Well-being Ambassadors Programme at SIMHA for over 9 months now.

The field of psychology is something I had fallen in love with in my early schooling years. My inquisitiveness drew me to the workings of human psyche and to the apparent ‘healing powers’ that the psychotherapist seemed to possess. This realization ignited my zeal to explore the therapeutic process further, aspiring to harness its remedial energy to empower individuals on their journey towards self-discovery, healing, and fulfilment.

I look for more knowledge and opportunities to translate my interest into practical action. Contextualising the well-being vision, I believe the meaningful accomplishment of preventive-promotive approach lies in sensitization and the nourishment of our everyday communities belonging to varied spheres.

My sense of helplessness in Indian society motivates me to care for my emotional well-being, providing me with a strong internal drive to acquire bio-psycho-social wisdom. My blog entries are centered around "self-actualization," and I believe the humanistic school of psychology can do wonders.

I(she/her), am an undergraduate student at the Indian Institute of Psychology and Research in Bangalore, where I am double majoring in Economics and Psychology.

In addition, I love to express myself creatively through writing, photography, and contemporary dance, given that it offers autonomy and intimacy to my inner self. For me, relationships with animals, pets, and the natural world are all very essential.

I am deeply interested in people’s stories and experiences – be it through their mental health journeys, writing, art or other traces that they leave in the world. I want to work towards making mental health more accessible for underrepresented communities in my journey as a psychologist.

Harsimran Kaur

I am Harsimran Kaur, an undergraduate student at the University of Delhi, pursuing honors in Psychology. I hail from Punjab, the land of food and blessings.

In the vast realm of academia, I am a seeker of knowledge, constantly on the lookout for new intellectual pursuits to embark upon. Yet, intertwined with my academic endeavors is a deeply personal journey of self-discovery, a path that I find both exhilarating and challenging, much like a blend of sweet and spicy flavors. When I seek solace and introspection, I retreat into the world of books, where each page is a portal to a new universe, offering me insights and perspectives that expand my understanding of the world and myself. And amidst this immersive literary voyage, there's nothing quite as comforting as a cup of cold coffee, its invigorating chill juxtaposed with the warmth of my blanket, cocooning me in a sanctuary of serenity and imagination.

Meera Chawda

Hi, it’s Meera (she/her). I have been a part of the Well-being Ambassador Programme for almost over 10 months now. I’m a Third year Psychology major student from University of Mumbai.

Three words that would describe me as a person  are driven, intellectual and humorous. I strongly believe that kindness and gratitude are things that can make our world a better place if practiced in proportion. Mental health and wellbeing are terms that most people are aware of and want to apply in their lives and yet have very little idea of where to start from.

From this programme I wish to spread the awareness of resources to every person who wishes to seek help and also give my small contribution by sharing what I have access to through various insightful blog posts.

Ritul Aryan

I am Ritul Aryan, an aspiring psychologist, with an undergraduate degree in Psychology Honors
from Patna Women's College. I come from Bihar, a place full of history and spiritual significance.
Just like the place of my birth, my mind is also a mosaic of creative art, music, literature, history,
spirituality, teaching, etc.

In the troubled times of Pandemic, I lost a dear friend to mental illness, which led me to choose
this field and pay my bit in making mental healthcare accessible to our masses. I am an avid
learner with the belief that the world, especially nature, is my teacher. Driven by the philosophy
of paying it forward, I volunteer for causes of mental health, anti sexual harassment and,
education.

Like my name means, a seeker of truth,
I too am trying to find the deeper meaning of life, by establishing an intersection between
Psychology, social work, and art, hoping to soon find a beautiful confluence.

I take pride in and draw strength from my easy-going nature and my ability to show up when needed. My daily goal is to put forward as much gentleness and kindness as I can into the world I'm surrounded within because a little kindness goes a long way.

Urmi Shethia

Hello, I'm Urmi Shethia, and I've journeyed from exploring the complexities of human behaviour through a Bachelor's in Psychology at Xavier's and Master's in Clinical Psychology from VESASC. I am proud to be a part of the WAP, where my passion for understanding people flourishes.

My insatiable curiosity has led me down diverse paths—I'm not just a psychologist, but also an avid sports enthusiast, a French teacher, and a soft skills trainer with three years of experience. On the sports field, I've thrived as a university-level volleyball and hockey player, and I've even represented internationally in cestoball. These varied experiences have woven a rich tapestry of understanding life from multiple perspectives.

Through my blogs, I aim to share my learnings from this eclectic journey, bridging psychology, sports, teaching, and personal development. Your feedback and suggestions are invaluable as I embark on this mission to share knowledge and inspire learning. Let's engage in insightful conversations and learn together!

I am Sakshi Shreya (she/her), an undergraduate student pursuing a double Bachelors in Psychology and Sociology from Doctor Harisingh Gour University (a Central University), Sagar, Madhya Pradesh. I’m an avid fiction genre lover (though I have recently developed a liking for non-fics as well), writer, poetess, artist, slow but tedious soul, and a good listener (I may not initiate a conversation with you, but I’m always ready to lend an ear for a good tête-à-tête).

I pride myself on embodying kindness, compassion, and empathy, always ready to offer support to those in need. With a profound appreciation for diverse cultures and a dedication to educating others in a community lacking in mental health awareness, I view this opportunity both as a chance and a blessing for me to act as a catalyst to positively impact the well-being of my peers.
